​‘Toshiba Mono’ printer is printing in color, instead of in B&W, on a Mac computer

A rather quick and easy change needs to be made on your computer for the ‘Toshiba Mono’ printer to print correctly. You will need to create a ‘preset’ for the printer and I’ve found it to be easily done within Microsoft Word. Please follow these instructions to do this:

NOTE: instructions for printing from particular applications are listed at the bottom of this article



CREATE A PRESET FOR THE TOSHIBA MONO PRINTER


1. Open Microsoft Word

2. Print (Click 'File', then 'Print...')

3. Select ‘Toshiba Mono’ as the Printer

4. Change the drop-down from ‘Copies & Pages’ to ‘Color Settings 1’

5. Change ‘Color Type’ from ‘Color’ to ‘Mono’

6. Change the Presets’ drop-down from ‘Default Settings’ to ‘Save Current Settings as Preset…’

7. Type ‘MONO’ for the Preset Name

8. Click the ‘Only this printer’ radio button for ‘Preset Available For:’

9. Click ‘OK’ button




Printing from Microsoft Word:

1. Print (Click 'File', then 'Print...')

2. Select ‘Toshiba Mono’ as the Printer

3. Make sure that ‘MONO’ is selected within ‘Presets:’

4. Make any changes for your print job

NOTE: The ‘Copies & Pages’ drop-down selection likely contains the most common settings)

5. Click the ‘Print’ button



Printing from Adobe Reader (for printing PDF files):

1. Print (Click 'File', then 'Print...')

2. Select ‘Toshiba Mono’ as the Printer

3. Click to enable ‘Print in grayscale (black and white)’ [located right below ‘Printer’]

4. Click the ‘Print’ button



Printing from Google Chrome:

1. Print (Click 'File', then 'Print...')

2. Select ‘Toshiba Mono’ as ‘Destination’ [located on right-hand window]

3. Click on ‘More Settings’ [located on bottom of right-hand window]

4. Click on ‘Print using system dialog…’ [located towards bottom of right-hand window]

5. Make sure that ‘MONO’ is selected within ‘Presets:’

6. Click the ‘Print’ button
