Making a Digital ID Signature Certificate

Creating a Digital ID Certificate


  1. Open Adobe Acrobat Pro
  2. Navigate to the upper left, select 'Edit'
  3. Select 'Preferences...'
    1. You can also press the key-combination 'CTRL' and 'K'
  1. On the left hand column, scroll down and select 'Signatures'
  2. Under 'Identities & Trusted Certificates', select 'More...'
  3. In the 'Digital IDs' category, select the leftmost symbol

  1. Select 'A new digital ID I want to create now' and continue by pressing 'Next >'
  2. Continue by pressing 'Next >'
  3. Fill out the information below
    1. Your name (First Last)
    2. Your Org. Unit (ex. Your Department)
    3. Your Org. Name (Northern York County School District)
    4. Your district email
  4. Continue by pressing 'Next >'
  5. Enter in a password which you will use to verify your signature.
    1. 8-12 Characters in length
    2. AT LEAST ONE
      1. Capital Letter
      2. Number
      3. Symbol
  6. Continue by pressing 'Next >'

You have now created a Digital ID. The next steps will help you to create a digital signature to pair with this ID.


Creating a Custom Signature


  1. Create a blank page PDF
  2. Select the 'Fill & Sign' button on the top ribbon bar

  1. Select 'Sign Yourself'
  2. Select 'Add Signature'
    1. You may now type out your name, or use the touch-screen of the device to sketch your signature out
  3. Finish by selecting 'Apply'
    1. The created signature will now be merged with your mouse pointer until you left-click to paste it onto the document
  4. Click on the document
  5. Navigate to the top left and select 'Edit'
  6. In the dropdown select: 'Edit a PDF'
  7. Select 'Crop Pages'
  8. Click and drag the cropping tool around your signature.
  9. Press 'Enter'
  10. Select 'OK'
  11. Save the document
    1. Make sure it is saved as a PDF.
  12. In the upper right select 'Home'
  13. Select 'Edit'
  14. Select 'Preferences'
  15. Navigate to 'Creation & Appearance' > 'More...'
  16. Select 'New...'
  17. Title your signature (ex. 'Default')
  18. Under 'Configure Graphic' select the box saying 'Imported graphic'.
  19. Select 'File...' Then navigate to where you saved your file.
  20. Under 'Configure Text' you can uncheck the field that says 'Logo'

Congratulations! You have just created your Digital ID Signature.
